National Vet Tech Week: Part 4

As we wrap up National Vet Tech Week, we would love to hear your shout-outs and comments about our great techs!  For more information, here is a podcast posted by AVMA about Vet Techs and their importance to the industry.  If becoming a vet tech is something you are interested, there are many schools here in the metro to help you get started or come in and talk to one of our lovely techs!  The last tech I got to discuss life with was Jennifer Day, our newest tech!  Unfortunately I had already left for the day when the photo shoot happened so my protege Lulu stepped in with her monster costume. Here is what Jenn had to say:

Coco: How long have you worked here?
Jenn: It has been 3 months now!
Coco: What animals do you have at home?
Jenn: I have a kitten named Alice and 1 dog named Ten Bears!
Coco: What did you want to be when you were little?

Jenn: I wanted to be a vet and then it changed into wanting to be a marine biologist! I love animals!  I’ve loved them since I was really young.  Some of my very first memories from when I was young include animals!
Coco: Animals are becoming a bigger part of everyone’s lives these days and I don’t think  we would have it any other way!  What is your favorite part of the job, besides the cute, cuddly animals?
Jenn: My favorite part about this job specifically at Pet-Vet is the people I work with.  The employees here work as a team and as a family.  That is pretty awesome to be a part of!
Coco: We are family up here!  Always have been and always will!  In June, we celebrated our 32nd year in business and pride ourselves on being family owned!  Well that’s an interesting fact about Pet-Vet, what is an interesting fact about you?
Jenn: I am deathly afraid of frogs! No idea why, just deathly afraid!  I can’t deal with the crickets up in the front of the store either so my co-workers like to make fun of me for that too!
Coco: Frogs, really?! I like frogs and crickets, you can often find me jumping around in the backyard trying to make those bugs my friends but they always seem to run away.  I’m not a big fan of bugs that make noise or are bigger than me that you find in other countries around the world!  If you could visit one place in the world where would it be and why?

Jenn: I would visit Costa Rica!  I’ve been interested in sea turtles for years, they are my favorite animal.  In the future, I really hope to make a career out of them.  I would love to have the opportunity to be involved in sea turtle rehabilitation and conservation in Costa Rica!
Coco:  That is awesome Jenn!  Sea turtles of the world would love to have you help them out I’m sure!  Sea turtles are one of Earth’s most ancient creatures and really cool! Jenn, it was fun sitting down and chatting with you!  Thank you for all you do for Pet-Vet Animal Clinic!

This was our last tech interview but tomorrow stay tuned for a special interview with Dr. Kim and Dr. Fruitt!  And don’t forget to come in and stock up on all your favorite food, treats and toys!
